陈爽，北京大学历史学学士(1999)、硕士(2002)，美国密歇根大学历史系博士(2009)。

现任美国爱荷华大学历史系副教授。

主要研究兴趣为元代至清代社会史、人口史以及法制史。

其专著 State- Sponsored  Inequality：The Banner System and Social Stratification in Northeast China (Stanford university Press,2017)获美国图书馆协会2017 Choice Award for Outstanding Academic Title。

此外,陈爽还在英文期刊发表多篇关于清代人口行为以及社会分层的论文。
